In polite circles, yes. :3 But I'm all for masses of concrit so hack and slash is really more accurate (though like all peoples, I ignore certain things because I'm obviously Always Right). XD
*grins* Well, I am much better at grammar and so on than on matching with canon. My memory for specific times and events isn't fabulous. But I can usually spot major plot holes and odd characterizations and I am good at being a sounding board and coming up with options when authors are stuck. So if you're looking for general concrit I can do that, but if you're looking for canon matching I'd probably miss something.
What kind of time-frame do you look for in your hacks-and-slashers? (My work is big on looking over people's shoulders to make sure they're actually working.)
Matching with canon isn't a huge deal (I've pretty much got the darn thing memorised, and any tiny details I'm not so worried about) it's more from a literary standpoint--har! Literary fanfiction!--like sentence structure, format, pacing, abuse of adverbs, nailing the feeling of a piece and being able to fill in any weak spots. That sort of thing. :3
I don't really aim for any time frame except when something is on deadline (and I do that like, once yearly). I'm used to Pond and she tends to take her time. She's so busy with school and work now that she can't do her usual beta for me so I'm all lost and fictionally naked. Aside from on RPS fic, I don't think I've posted anything without her going over it in years.
I'd be glad to give it a shot! Or if my comments aren't quite what you're looking for, then I've done the some of the rough work and you can give it to Pond for fine-tuning. :)
Woo! You have a choice between casefile hijinks and Serious Business. Serious Business is the one I'll send if you don't have a preference, since it's the one I'm anxious for and it's shorter.
Well. Pond usually just directly edits typos and small changes (like periods, commas, that sort of thing) and sticks bigger changes between [] square brackets so I can just search through to poke at her suggestions. Heh.
