Okay, that was just COOL.

So apparently there was this hockey game today that Canada won, and apparently (I am so bad at keeping up with this sort of thing) we did pretty good in the Olympics over all. Yay! Canada is not usually such a hot item. XD

There are horns blowing everywhere (still!), fire trucks and police cars with the sirens going, giant beavers hanging out of car windows, and the parade that just went down my street was made up of a Chinese parade dragon surrounded by dancers in maple leaf patterned saris escorted by leather daddies on motorcycles.

Canada, I can't even, but sometimes you are so cool.

I hear this too! :D Which is cool. I am liking this pride in my country I'm getting from osmosis here.

And it was kind of amazing. I was just standing there staring, I should've gone to get my bloody camera but it was like, big bear dude thumping a hand on his thigh to the beat of the dragon's drum and it was just... cool. Very cool.

The game was epic, and very entertaining. XD Though now I'm sad that my neighbourhood didn't get any parades!

I heard it was epic! We were in Metrotown when it went into overtime and people were gathered in front of every single television in the place! They'd rearranged the floor model couches in Sears so people could group around the flatscreens. XD

Also, deafening amount of noise when we won. Deafening.

The hockey game was so amazing - a perfect conclusion to the entire Olympics this year. I was rooting for Canada to win, even though seeing Ryan Miller's impromptu interview immediately following the game was heart wrenching. He was so broken by letting that goal go past him.





Also, uh, by "giant beavers hanging out of car windows", I really hope that you're talking about the animals, stuffed or not.

Most of the time the US and Canada functions in my head as step-siblings that soundly mock one another in between passing the beer and the pretzels, so the fact that we're sharing gold and silver makes me all :D :D :D!
